The Service:

We Provide advice and treatment to children with a diagnosis of diabetes type 1 or type 2 that is problematic to manage.

Children and young people diagnosed or suspected as having Diabetes type 1

Fully accessible building which is based at The Evelina London Children’s Hospital

How this is provided:

The service is run by a multi-disciplinary team with specialist skills in the care of paediatric diabetes. You may be seen by a doctor, specialist nurse, dietician or psychologist during your visit. This team will see your child at least 4 times per year. Other appointments and tests may also be necessary

How can I access this service?

Children are normally referred to the diabetes service by their GP. Some also come to us from the accident and emergency department or through the intensive care unit.

Useful to know

Our diabetes clinics take place every Wednesday morning and Thursday afternoon
It is very important that you bring all of your child’s glucose meters to every appointment.
As we are a teaching hospital, students and visitors may be observing the team. We will always ask your permission for them to observe your appointment.
