The Service:

Assess and treat under 16’s with chronic or acute respiratory conditions

Who is the service for?

For children under 16 with chronic or acute respiratory conditions, except TB and cystic fibrosis

Criteria for access to service

Need to be referred from another clinician who has treated the respiratory condition

Accessibility of this service

Clinics are held between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday, our building is fully accessible for wheelchairs

How this is provided:

  • History taking and full examination
  • Spirometry and inhaler technique
  • Asthma education
  • Chest x-ray and chest CT scan
  • Bronchoscopies
  • Respiratory sleep studies
  • Videotelemetry
  • Initiation and monitoring of home ventialtion

How can I access this service?

Referral can be made by clinician treating the child or young person e.g. GP or A&E doctor
