Lambeth and Southwark Mind

Supporting those suffering from mental health issues and loneliness.

We work across Lambeth and Southwark to support positive mental health and wellbeing. Working closely with a range of partners, we offer a number of activities from our peer support groups to an information line. Our mission is, to provide free, innovative, long-term services that empower and support everyone experiencing a mental health problem.

What we do

  • Black River counselling is a free online service supporting people of Black African/African-Caribbean heritage during these challenging times.

  • Our General Psychotherapy service provides long-term therapy to people that otherwise would find it enormously difficult to access.

  • Hood Mentality, founded in 2019, is an initiative for and by young black men that hosts and facilitates projects within London communities. We operate through three strands: creativity, sport and social enterprise to increase expression, resilience and agency.

  • The Information Service provides a confidential telephone and email signposting service for people experiencing mental health difficulties, their families, professionals and people in the community.

  • The Psychosis Therapy Project offers treatment for people experiencing psychosis, with a team of psychoanalytically trained practitioners.

  • Our psychotherapy clinic offers free, long-term talking therapies to people who are in need of help with a broad range of mental health difficulties.

  • The USEMI clinic offers a minimum of 20 weeks of free psychotherapy with a Black-led team of therapists trained to work with complex trauma.
