What is the Southwark Local Offer?

The Southwark Local Offer is a comprehensive guide to the services in Southwark and neighbouring boroughs that are available for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) aged 0-25.

Southwark’s Local Offer was developed with parents, carers and children & young people with SEND.

The Local Offer is maintained and regularly updated to make sure that information is up to date and to take into account the suggestions and feedback of children and young people with SEND and their parents and carers.

Why have the Local Offer?

Local authorities have a legal duty to publish a Local Offer (Children & Families Act 2014, Section 30), setting out in one place information about provision they expect to be available across education, health and social care for children and young people who have Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND), including those with and without Education, Health and Care plans.

For more information on the legislation, please see: The Special Educational Needs (Local Offer) Regulations 2014.

Who is the Local Offer for?

  • Parents or carers who are responsible for a child or young person with SEND aged 0-25 years old.

  • Professionals who work with young people with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities.

  • The Youth Offer is aimed at people aged 16-25 years old and includes both SEND specific and general services.
