The Service:

Treasure House is a small Independent School, with a maximum intake of 15 students, based in Old Kent Road offering a mixed ability environment responding to a range of social/emotional needs.

Treasure House provides full-time education, in small groups and one-to-one, for young people who have fallen behind due to their needs not being met in other settings.

The key aims of Treasure House are to re-engage students in the learning process, supporting them to overcome their difficulties and provide access to high quality tuition across a broad curriculum.

Who is the service for?

Young people who are unable to cope in mainstream settings who may have needs such as:

  • ASD
  • Anxiety & depression
  • Attachment disorders
  • Bullied in school or victim of crime
  • Coping with bereavement
  • Long gaps in education
  • School phobia

We have worked successfully with other needs, such as:

  • Developmental Coordination Delay
  • Dyslexia
  • EAL
  • Processing delay
  • Speech & Language
  • Medical needs, such as diabetes

Criteria for access to service

Young people aged between 14 and 19 who would benefit from a small, caring and calm environment in which to re-engage with their education.

We do not accept young people who may pose a threat to the wellbeing of other students and disrupt the therapeutic process.

Accessibility of this service

Treasure House is located at the Livesey Museum Building. We operate across three floors, with step-free access to the ground floor and garden and an accessible toilet.

All documentation can be replicated in large print or audio upon request. Adaptions to students working conditions are frequently carried out and modified access arrangements for exams are sought where applicable.

Do you need to pay for this service?

Treasure House charges a daily rate of £115 which includes all textbooks, materials, PE sessions, add-on sessions, most trips, lunch and coffee, tea and water. Additional fees may be applied where services such as intensive Speech and Language provision is required to be provided by us.

The fees are usually covered by EHC (Education, Health and Care) Plans or directly by schools or academies.

Useful to know

Treasure House holds Activity Weeks at least three times a year which provide intensive training in areas such as Careers & Progression, Confidence Building, SMSC Education.

We are committed to positive progression routes for all of our students ensuring that they more on to college, sixth form, apprenticeships or other appropriate settings.

Treasure House will be offering services to the local community outside of school hours, this will support the development of groups, workshops and activities that support our young people’s needs.

We are a registered AQA exam centre.
