Beckmead College – Specialist College

Beckmead College is a specialist college extension of The Beckmead Family of Schools which is an Outstanding Community Special School located across several sites in Croydon. The College has a main campus and a subsidiary campus and will be for a maximum of 100 students.

Applicants will be identified as having Social Emotional Mental Heath Needs (SEMH) and / or Autism, which could be accompanied by challenging behaviour.

The main site is a multi-million pound new build and facilities include state of the art vocational workshops offering Catering, Bricklaying, Carpentry & Joinery, Motor Mechanics, Painting & Decorating and Multiskills.
The College includes five large workshops that will deliver accredited courses in Bricklaying, Carpentry & Joinery, Motor Mechanics, Painting & Decorating and Multi-skills. These vocational areas are designed to promote a direct link into work and apprenticeships by replicating a business type environment.

Beckmead College also contains a state of the art Teaching Kitchen and bespoke rooms for Media, Music and Business Studies. The College is designed around a central area that contains a full size Boxing Ring that will support the delivery of sports courses.

Curriculum Options

Pupils will choose a curriculum pathway from a choice of:

Construction– Carpentry & Brick laying /multipurpose
Mechanics & Engineering (Motor Mechanics)
Media - Media & Film BTEC
Music Technology BTEC/NCFE
Catering

Each pathway will in addition incorporate core subjects Maths and English, and an enrichment programme consisting of ICT, PE, Business, ASDAN Life Skills including Home Cooking & Budget Management, Careers and Employability.
