All young people are required to participate in education until their 18th birthday.  

This means that after leaving school (the last Friday in June of the school year in which you turn 16), you will be required to:

• Continue in full time education or college
• Start a work based learning programme such as an apprenticeship or supported internship
• Start full-time work alongside part time learning which leads to an accredited qualification
• Volunteering for a minimum of 20 hours a week alongside part time learning which leads to an accredited qualification.
